Let me share an experience I had while a student at Oral Roberts University. I awakened in the middle of the night and audibly heard myself speaking to young people. During this audible exchange, I had a boldness I didn’t normally have at the time. I could hear the most vulgar music (no different than what’s played in the airwaves now) blasting away, and the young people were living it up. You could hear swearing and partying to no end, and I could hear my voice pleading with them and warning them.
“You must walk in holiness before the Lord. The end is near!”
Most of the young people ignored me while others mocked and ridiculed me, continuing on their path towards rebellion.
I was very grieved within my spirit by what I was hearing because I knew that judgment was soon approaching, but they didn’t believe. The sound of the music suddenly became louder. It was a loudness that was piercing and deafening, and the youth were no longer laughing but were screaming:
“Turn it off. Turn it off!”
I could hear screaming as if they were in pain and torment while the music continued loudly and they were being tormented by demons. There had been no end to their rebellion and rejection of the gospel, and now they had to pay the piper but the price was too high!
To my shock and sadness, I heard them scream,
“Acacia tried to warn us but we wouldn’t listen. Now there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth!”
They repeated this three times in agony of soul, and then I heard what sounded like a lawn mower that was louder than any lawn mower I’ve ever heard. Then there was silence as the grave. This scripture verse immediately came to mind:
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. (Psalm 37:1-2)
Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand! (Mathew 11:15).
