On that note, I’d like to share a very disturbing dream I had sometime in 2013. I can’t remember the exact date, but I recall awakening with fright yet feeling blessed that God loved me enough to warn me. In the dream, Christ returned for His church. He was hovering in the sky and was visible to the entire world. People of this age (including myself ) were amazed at the awesome sight of Him, yet we were troubled because we were unprepared for His return. Some people cried out,
“My grandmother always spoke of His return, but I never believed He’d return in our generation. This is unbelievable—I can’t believe the end is here! What am I going to do?”
My brother, Aaron and I were looking on, just as unsettled and unprepared as everyone else. Deep within, we all knew Christ had come but not for us. We’d been left behind! My brother cried out,
“But we wrote Launch Out Into The Deep!”
Suddenly a digital bar graph appeared. On the horizontal axis, there was a list: TV time, Internet/ Social Networks, Video Games, Phone Time, Dating Sites, Pornography, Prayer Time, Bible Study Time, Church Attendance … I’m sure there were others, but I was given just a glimpse of the bar and can’t recall everything. The vertical axis showed the amount of time given to each activity over our lifetimes. There were tall bars for leisure activities, but the ones that depicted spiritual activities were extremely low.
My brother put his head down in shame. I realized my brother and I were in the same boat as I’d devoted way too much time to entertainment and not enough time to God’s Word. I’d encourage you to examine your own lives and see where you’d be spiritually on a bar graph.
Would your life be one that shows love and devotion towards God or would you regrettably bow your head in shame because other things in your life preoccupied your time more than God?
This is a chapter excerpt from, “The Serpent Beguiled Eve.”
